Lily glared and bit her tongue. Like always, she wouldn't win against James. He just didn't seem to get offended, at least by anything she said, and it's not as if she's ever very nice to him. But this was why she hated him, his rude comments and bullying. Severus may not be Lily's favourite person in the world, but he certainly doesn't deserve what James and his buddies do to him.
"So, do you get along with all your siblings but Mike?" Lily said, turning towards Noelle. She wanted to ignor James, and also get to know more about her. It seemed best to just strike up a conversation and hope for James to leave. Though, she really didn't see that happening.

James batted his eyes at her, knowing she was ignoring him on purpose. He was sure to win at this round. And then he would tell Sirius and the others all about it as usual. One of these days he'd get a date with her and then he'd swear it was how he won her over. Besides Lily wasn't seeing anyody that he knew of. Sure that might explain why she would be so quick to knock him onto his back but he didn't see that happening.
He would have seen the lucky bloke too. And then hexed his pants off if there were such a fellow. But that couldn't be it. He didn't think once that it might be his arrogance either. That was out of the question. He was most definitely perfect and that was how he liked it. He ruffled his hair again just to get a glare out of her.
So she was talking to the girl Noelle now was she? Two could play at this game. And one would win. "Well, on second thought what does Brian look like? I suppose I could find him you know."

"Yeah I get along with Brian, Josh, and Dustin. And of course Maria." she told Lily. She had been sitting there smiling to herself as James and Lily argued. "Brian has black spikey hair and green eyes." she said to James. Dustin and Josh were the twins who had shaggy brown hair and blue eyes. Maria had long black hair and bright blue eyes. Mike was the one who died his hair blonde to fit in with the Slytherins.

Lily smiled at Noelle, it was good she could get along with her family. Lily loved her parents, and although she didn't outright hate her sister, it was obvious that her sister hated her. At school she had to deal with some of the purebloods who hated her, and at home her sister. It wasn't very fun, especially since they both hated her for the same thing, though different reasons.
"It must be because you've got some of your personality in common, I mean, you're all Gryffindor's. Though, sometimes I think there's a rather large drift between personality's to be in the same house." Lily shot James a look after that. She really didn't understand how they could be in the same house and have nothing in common. At least Lily hoped she had nothing in common with the arrogant git.

"I guess." she said shrugging. Their personalities were sort of alike. Not completely though. Brian was quite quiet sometimes but then he could be loud. Dustin was too smart and they wondered why he hadn't been in Ravenclaw. Josh was an idiot sometimes and always got into trouble but never turned down a dare. Maria was shy and even she thought she should have been in Hufflepuff but nope. She was in Gryffindor.

James was still grinning no matter what Lily seemed to be insulting him about. All he heard was chattering until his name was mentioned again and a glare tossed his way. "Oh, but that's silly. I make this house what it is you know. Who else could be as brave as I may I ask? oh go on, lily, don't be such a spoil sport and besides I believe you're boring Noelle. Lunch time is time for good enthralling conversation and not insults. Now go on, Lilly. Let's talka bout something fun like Quidditch." He nodded.

"Gryffindor isn't only bravery, you should know that by now." Lily replied smartly. Of course, she found it quite anoying that James was going on about his bravery when didn't he know bully's weren't brave? Besides, it wasn't as if she were a frightened little girl.
"Besides, not everyone's opinion of a good conversation involves Quidditch. You must forget that I don't play." Lily added, not sure how her reply would go over since she was pretty sure Noelle was on the Quidditch team as well.

Sirius Black had never been a morning person, and he doubted he ever would be. He was hardly ever up in time for breakfast with the rest of the school so he usually ended up sauntering in alone which caused him to be terribly late for his first lesson. Professors were used to it by now and thought it a blessing if he turned up on time. Though that never stopped them shouting at him each and every time it happened. Weekends weren't so bad as he could get up at whatever time he pleased and not get a detention for it.
He walked into the Great Hall, still half asleep, only to find that he wasn't the only one to have slept in this morning. As he got closer to the group he saw it consisted of his best friend, his best friend's osession and Noelle Thomas caught in the middle of it. "Hey," he said as he sat down beside James. Sirius elbowed his friend in the side, "This idiot isn't bothering you lovely ladies is he?"

"I have to agree with Lily. I play Quidditch but it's not everything." she said to James. In truth that was what she thought. Of course she would bring up Quidditch if a conversation was boring her. So far this conversation hadn't, it was amusing. "Hey Sirius." she said to him as he came over.

Lily smiled, pleased that Noelle agreed with her, though only because it meant she didn't agree with James. She was about to say something, when someone else she did not like all that much walked in. Sirius Black and Lily had never gotten along. Hw could Lily like someone so far up their own arse? Not to mention the fact that he's James' best friend. There was just nothing about Sirius that Lily could even look at apatheticly.
"Oh, not at all. And my day just keeps getting better and better." Lily wasn't one to be sarcastic, at least until she was so angry she couldn't keep it in any longer. This was one of those moments. First she had to deal with James and his annoying-ness, now Sirius. What did she do wrong to deserve this? Oh, yes, she slept in.

James grinned at Lily's last remark after giving her a casual nod to Sirius. He hardly heard what else they had said until she really spoke again. He was willing to give a good rebuttal for that one and he enjoyed it far too much. One of these days she would be sorry she had waited so long to finally fall for him. Besides, SHE was the lucky one. Wasn't she?
"Oooh of course it does. After all, I showed up didn't I? That's got to be a better thing abuot any day. That's what I think anyway." He grinned again, a sparkle in his eye as he watched for her reaction. She'd probably blow a fuse at this point. He had it timed.....if another comment didn't bother her yet then he'd just have to keep going.

That was it, that was the last thing Lily could stand hearing come out of James mouth. The smart thing to do would be to walk away, just get up and leave. Lily always knew what the smart thing to do was, but she didn't always do it. She was angry, just as James planned, she assumed, and once she was angry she had to let it out. Though, there was the poor Noelle, stuck in the middle of it all. Lily didn't want to bother her too much. Oh, sod it, she finally decided.
"You know James Potter, you are the biggest bloody asshole in this entire school! Your head is shoved so far up your own arse, it's amazing you find the time between ruffling your bloody hair and thinking about how bloody perfect you must be, and how you must be God's bloody gift to women, to annoying me! You think you're so blimey important, but you're just a huge, bloody arrongant git! And then you walk around bullying others just to make yourself feel bloody bigger! I could never think of you differently if you were the last bloody, dingy man on earth!" Lily felt herself turning red during her rant, and by the end she had to be deep magenta. But, she felt a little better letting her emotions out, though she couldn't help thinking it was a little harsh, even for James. But, no matter, by now she no longer cared, about anything. Everyone in the great hall was staring at her, but she hardly noticed their eyes burning holes into the back of her head. And she definitely didn't even care that she let that nice girl, the innocent bystander get into the middle of it. And Sirius, well, when did she ever care about Sirius? She would have probably said the same thing to him, given the chance.
Calming down a little, she let her small body slid down on her chair, apprehension setting in. She didn't care about what she did, but she didn't want to be punished either. It would be especially bad since she was a prefect, she was supposed to set an example, not scream and curse.

Sirius grabbed a bowl from the centre of the table. He poured into it a heaped pile of cereal and then a lot of milk before taking a spoon and beginning to shovel the soggy flakes into his waiting mouth. "She was talking about me, mate," he said then swallowed the food he was currently chewing on. "You see, Evans here has the biggest crush on me and though her voice was dripping with sarcasm it was just a cover up for her true feelings. That's why she keeps turning you down Prongs, she doesn't want second best she wants the real deal," Sirius smirked before going back to eating.
When Lily made the comment about James thinking he was God's gift to woman, Sirius snorted into his cereal sending bits flying everywhere. He wiped the splatter of milk from his eye before saying, "She's got a point, James. Everyone knows that it is in fact me that is God's gift."

James had been in a bit of shock throughout Lily's whole crazed speech. Well, he was still convinced in his own gifts of course but it didn't make him feel any better listening to her blare it to the entire school. Then Sirius finally said something, lightening the mood a bit andh e sighed in relief. He had almost had a full moment of modesty right there. Good thing Sirius had managed to stop him from thinking such things, he thought with a teasing grin.
"Oh, go on, SIrius, you're kidding yourself. You're only God's gift to women in TRAINING. See I taught him everything I know. ANd Lils, honestly, cut back on the butterbeer. It makes you a wee bit crazy." He looped his finger over his ear with a funny look on his face to make his point.

Noelle was beginning to feel Lily's pain. Having to listen to that? Noelle herself was ready to slap him or hex him. "Oh Lord..." she said laughing. Them? God's gift to women? "Please don't kid yourselves." she said sweetly as she took a sip of her drink.
