Appearence:
While Regulus isn’t exactly as attractive or well built as his brother (though neither of these things is something he’ll willingly admit), he certainly didn’t fall out of luck where his appearance is concerned. His features are significantly less defined, mature, and masculine as Sirius’s are, instead looking rather boyish. But still, it leads people to believe he is more charming than he actually is.Picture:
His hair, while not as dark as Sirius’s, is still rather dark considering, worn about the same length or shorter, but never longer than shoulder length. His eyes are dark blue, nearly black in some light, and often considered his best feature, not only because of their colour, but because of their expressiveness. A person can tell when Regulus is angry, just by looking at him. Every emotion is reflected in them, but at the same time, none at all, for he is capable of making them seem empty, and closed off from the world.
Regulus certainly isn’t one of the tallest boys in his year, but he isn’t short either, making him just about average height. He could be considered lanky or skinny rather than muscular. Because of this, he never really participated in Quidditch or other sports, and still doesn’t. Despite his trim physique, he eats quite a lot considering.

Personality:
Regulus’s personality is quite a simple affair. Many people will agree he doesn’t even have much of one. From his parents, he inherited the elitist attitudes, discriminating against anyone less than pure-blooded, or those who associate with such people. The possibility for Regulus to be a kind person was virtually lost due to his upbringing. His parents were determined to raise him to be the exact opposite of his brother, and so he is. He’s a bit of a Momma’s boy, arrogant, and often speaks without thinking what he’s saying. One might say he’s “all talk” and “no do”, which often results in a few bruises or a black eye. It’s debatable whether or not he’s blunt out of sincerity, or that he isn’t intelligent enough to be subtle.Likes:
Despite his attempts to appear defiant and somewhat impressive, Regulus is, in all senses of the word, a coward (especially considering he secretly fears house elves). Most people believe he never gets into trouble because he’s either too cunning to get caught or he has great influence because of his family. The truth is, he’s mostly too afraid to do anything that would warrant it.
Another great personality flaw (besides being absolute rubbish at Quidditch, flying, or anything therein) is his total abhorrence for his brother—or what most people mistake to be abhorrence. In all truths, he actually admires his brother, and is even jealous of him, a few other things he will never admit. He masks his lack of confidence and insecurities, especially when being compared to Sirius, by putting on an act that he totally hates Sirius, though at one point in time, he wanted to be just like him.
There are redeeming qualities about Regulus. For one, he’s strangely compassionate towards animals, which most people do find a bit bizarre. He has a sincere streak when it comes to women, but unlike his brother, he is very shy around them. He’s incredibly determined, and when he wants something, he usually always achieves it, not just because he’s spoiled, but because he works hard to get what he wants, even though it may seem like he’s too much of a snob and too lazy to do anything.
He has a few hidden talents, as well. He harbors a secret passion for Herbology. Many people don’t know this about him, but he had gotten good marks in the class since his first year. His parents greatly discouraged it since learning about it, so mostly he hones his skills in private. He also seems to have quite a skill with poetry, despite his bluntness.

Though he was born into the Most Noble and Ancient House of Black, Regulus has done anything but regret it, a stark contrast to his brother’s attitude about it. He’s quite proud to have hailed from such a reputable household with such well-respected parents. He spent most of his childhood being pampered as a prince, while his brother was cast aside as the “black sheep”.Family:
His father hadn’t paid much attention to him outside of the social events they often attended, or when they were under closely scrutinising eyes, but he was far from negligent to Regulus. In fact, he’d come home sometimes with presents for him when he was a young boy, and nothing but a harsh beating for Sirius. He’d always remember the glares his brother threw him, wondering where he had acquired the strange bruises, and wondering more still why Sirius looked at him in such a way.
Growing up, he had idolised his brother. Once, he had been a normal child, before he was old enough to totally comprehend everything his parents were drilling into his head. Of course, Sirius had almost pretty much avoided him or something of the sort, which eventually hardened him and made him stop caring about being just like his brother.
His mother always made appoint to shower affection on him whilst Sirius was around, usually more out of spite for the latter than anything. Still, Regulus had grown up being a “Momma’s boy” and would possibly be one for the rest of his life.
The year that elapsed between the time Sirius received his Hogwarts letter and the time when Regulus received his own was nothing but bliss. There were no more annoying pet names his mother had given to him just to piss off Sirius, no incessant yelling into the night. Just peace, and quiet. He could pretend he was the only child he had always wanted to be. Except that he didn’t.
When he had gotten his own letter, it was easy enough for him to make friends, mainly because he came from such a reputable background. Students years ahead of him had accepted him into their makeshift hierarchy, which was something Regulus enjoyed very much. Most importantly of all, he had also had his first taste of what would be a long road of feelings, because that was when he met Nemesis Nyx.
He hadn’t completely gotten over the phase where he thought girls were gross, but by the time he had been on the Hogwarts Express for half an hour, he had quickly forgotten about it. He noticed his brother walking over to harass a girl who was sitting by herself reading a book that, judging by its cover, was written in Italian. He noticed she was exceptionally pretty, and when she lifted her gaze from the book to glare at Sirius, their eyes met, and Regulus was instantly smitten.
He was relieved to find that, when he was sorted into Slytherin, Miss Nemesis Nyx was also sitting at that long table in the Great Hall, still reading her book in Italian, looking even more interesting, clad in Slytherin robes with a white serpent loosely wrapped around her neck. He had spent most of the next few years trying to get her attention, but she seemed either too put off by his advances—or lack thereof, being the reticent person he was with women—or she was too enamoured with someone else.
Of course, it had to be his brother. He didn’t realise this until quite some time later, after his brother was almost completely removed from his life, blasted off the Black tapestry, kicked out of the family, disowned, point blank. Still, he was unhappy. There was something about tormenting his brother he missed. And he found he had become even more jealous of his brother when he realised several great differences between them.
Sirius had real friends, which was something Regulus doubted he’d ever have, because he wasn’t going to delude himself into thinking those people that talked to him actually liked him. They only associated with him because of his good name. He was just another name to them, not a person. And, unfortunately for him, Sirius also had something else he didn’t have—Nemesis. He’d been hellbent on getting to her, but his brother just got there first.
There’s a thin line between love and hate, and Regulus felt he walked that line—jealousy.
